K7RE RTTY
Revised 9-7-2006
Introduction:
K7RE RTTY is a program that reads as well as sends
RTTY, either stand alone, or in conjunction with the N3FJP suite of
contest and logging programs that support the RTTY mode. It uses
the MMTTY engine.
This is the first registered version available since development
began. You have 45 days in which to try out the program, it is
*NOT* crippled in any other way. The fee is only $ 8.00 US. You
may make payment via PayPal to the account of bkassel. When
requested by PayPal to enter the E-MAIL address, use k7re@arrl.net,
*NOT* bkassel@dakotablue.net, as this will try to send the payment to a
non-existant account. Of course you may
just send a
regular USPO letter with your exact call sign and payment
(Personal Check, Money order etc., payable to Brian Kassel ) to:
Brian Kassel K7RE
10559 West Highway 14
Spearfish, SD 57783.
E-MAIL: K7RE@arrl.net
In any case, I will need to receive your call sign so that I may E-MAIl
you your regisration code, which is based on your call sign. I
can go by the honor system in that I will send you the registration
code on your PROMISE to send the payment. This will get you the
code as quickly as possible. After all, this is Ham Radio.
I will then respond in kind with your registration key. This key
is good for any other versions of this program that may be developed in
the future, but not necessarily for any OTHER program that I may
develop. You simply type in your call sign, the registration key and
you will be instantly registered. You will see no more splash
screen's etc. This is set up very similar to the N3FJP software
registration.
The current version is 0.7
The GRAB Call sign Function is now available, and the tendency for the
text in the RX data window to pertabate is now fully remedied. The Grab
Call sign is extremely easy to use, simply double click on the call
sign in the list box located below the RX data window. Of
course this is all fully explained in the HELP file, available
from the program's menu bar.
Currently supported Programs from the N3FJP Suite are:
ACLog 2.7 (After 1-27-2005)
ARRL RTTY 1.1
CQWPXRTTY 2.2
NAQPRTTY 2.1
NA Sprint
ARRL Field Day
There will be additional programs added often,
so please check back to
this
site and at the N3FJP Contest Logger Site often:
N3FJP Software Main Page
There is no setup file currently required. No changes are
made to the Windows Registry. This means that if you decide not to keep
the program, you may simply delete all of the files in the folder in
which you copied the program. No other files such as .DLL or .OCX
files are installed in any other folders.
The previous Version 0.6 instituted the ability to resize all
windows by simply using the mouse. All of the controls, and even the
fonts are AUTOMATICALLY changed in size to meet the new Window size.
See more in the Help file. Many
users will find this new feature very useful when running along with
the N3FJP software.
1.) If you have never downloaded the program before, simply
download the current version 0.7 *FULL* version.
If you are currently using Version 0.6 and wish to
upgrade to Version 0.7, it is strongly reccomended that you create a
new folder, and download the Full Version 0.7, and unzip it into the
new folder. This will ensure that
the two versions are entirely seperated, just in case you wish to go
back to Version 0.6 for any reason.

2.) K7RE RTTY is based on the MMTTY engine. For all versions, you
must download the
engine from:
MMTTY
Engine 1.65
3.) If you wish to use the program along with the N3FJP suite of
programs, you can download his software at:
N3FJP Software Main Page
Remember, only the programs that currently support RTTY will work with
K7RERTTY
4.) Create a
Folder, name
it something like K7RE 0.7 RTTY , if you haven't already in the
previous step. That way when new
versions are downloaded, you can keep everything completely
sepparate. When you are satisfied with the newer version,
simply delete the folder for the previous version.
5.) Then unzip and
copy all 3 Zipped files into the same
folder that you created above.
6.) Read the simple Help file included in the Help menu item on the
K7RE
RTTY Main
window. It will answer most,
if not all, of your questions.
We have a Reflector for K7RE RTTY Software. You must
sign up with Yahoo to be able to post messages
but the sign-up is free:

Introduction:
This program was developed with just one goal in mind: To provide a
free contest logging application that is simple to use, and
requires
no configuration other than typing in your call sign, name etc. Updates
will be available for each of the QRP contests, as well as many of the
more popular contests that include a QRP category.
Cw send capabilities that use a simple serial port interface and
synched
to the operation of this program are now included. Thanks to Brian AE9K
for this feature.
Minimum system requirements for the CW send feature are: 486-66 or
better.
The logging portion will run satisfactorily on a 386-20, and perhaps a

in
all ARRL

Versions are released at least a few days prior
to
any additional
contests that are added.
New Features in this release:
No new features were added in this release.
Features added in previous releases:
Completed scoring for the CQ WPX contest.
Added a utility to calculate Grid Squares.
You
just enter the coordinates
and the Grid Number is returned. Conversely,
if the Grid square is entered,
the coordinates will be returned. Other
additional
information about
the area surrounding the Grid square is also
returned.
A new Log page that displays logs of any size is
now
provided. The header
is also continuously displayed above the Log data.
Added the ability for the user to edit the time
and
date fields.
This new feature will allow users to enter a log after
a contest, and
get automatic scoring by the program, if they wish
to do paper
logging, for example.
The main Logging form is now automatically
resized
when the user
moves the mouse to change either the height or the
width of the
window. All fonts, and controls in the window
will automatically
be resized. The main window is the only one
so far that has
received this new feature. Of course,
if the window is made too
small, some text may be hard or even impossible to
read.
Auto CQ calling with user defined interval.
Proper Scoring for NAQP CW and SSB contests.
SPC Grid now operates with all contests that use
them.
Section Grid now operates with all ARRL contests
that
use them.
The operating windows position and size are
saved,
if the user wishes, upon exiting.
Each contest's windows are saved invidually.
The CW send files are more individually customized
for each contest.
